Eastside Bookshop identity

Eastside Bookshop resides in London’s east end, surrounded by a myriad of small shops with quirky, vintage aesthetic, typical for the area. In order to differentiate the bookstore, I used streamlined approach consisting of black and white colors and modernist typeface, used together within a clean layout grid.

The quotation marks glyphs become the “e” and “b” initials, thus underlining its reference to reading and literature. The resulting logo is further expanded into an intrinsic pattern, typical for the decorative inner covers found in vintage books. On a second level, the multiplication of the logo communicates the social character of the bookstore as a place for meetings and exchange of interests.
